Soccer -
Abdul loves soccer more than anything. He learned to play in an Egyptian refugee camp where he spent most of his life before coming to Bloomington as a teenager. While a determined and talented player, Abdul discovered how challenging it is to play with kids that have spent years playing highly competitive club soccer, but he did manage to try out and make his high school JV team last Fall. He was surprised that there was no school team for the Spring season, but we helped him get a scholarship with Cutter’s Soccer Club so that his play can continue to develop. Hopefully this will allow him to fulfill his dream to play on the school varsity team in the Fall. Meanwhile, volunteers are making sure that he has a ride to the local and away games.
