4th Annual Picnic for Refugees, Sponsors and Friends

The Bloomington Refugee Support Network (better known as the Refugee Support Network or simply RSN) and First United Church held a joint picnic event for our new international neighbors and their sponsors and friends. The event is funded by a generous grant from the Bloomington Thrift Shop.

Every summer, a picnic gathering is scheduled to bring together the local Bloomington refugee community for food, games and fellowship in a local park.  This year was no exception. The weather was perfect and more than 120 people from nearly a dozen countries attended.

“It is a wonderful experience to get together to enjoy a day outdoors and celebrate the end of the school year and all that we have in common” says Pete Lenzen, RSN Director.  “We look forward to the upcoming holiday party in December to rekindle these friendships.”
