Volunteer Opportunities
Why Volunteer?
Volunteering with the Bloomington Refugee Support Network offers a chance to create a lasting difference in the lives of asylum seekers and refugees in our community. It’s more than providing support—it’s about fostering connections and empowering individuals on their journey to rebuild their lives. Be part of this meaningful work and help transform our community together.
Acclimation Help
Befriend an immigrant family to help orient them to our community. According to your availability and their needs, this may include providing transportation to important appointments, helping them move to a better apartment, meeting them for English language conversation, helping them navigate our medical, banking and educational systems.
Mentorship
Provide focused expertise to immigrants and our volunteers assisting immigrants. Be a resource of information about housing, Indiana FSSA, insurance, job searching, English as a New Language (ENL), counselling, the school system, driver’s education, among many other examples.
Build Connections
Join RSN as an individual or group to share experiences and resources. Your input amplifies our hands-on advocacy!
Offer Specific Assistance
Offer specific assistance, such as signing up to provide a ride in a schedule of needed rides. Or fill a need, such as donating items that are needed or helping with clothing drives.
Feel free to put your preferences in the Volunteer Interest Form!
