News - In the News

  • The Marian County Sheriff’s Department questions whether to renew the federal contract to house hundreds of ICE detainees. The federal Border Czar Tom Homan visits Indiana and implores the Indiana legislative majority to enact harsher restrictions on the undocumented in the next legislative session. The Miami State Correctional Facility begins accepting federal detainees from ICE. Meanwhile, 44 nonviolent protests are held across Indiana on “No Kings Day”.  While there were many issues protested,  the demand to change course on detaining and deporting noncriminal immigrants was a common one. Lastly, the Indiana Attorney General loses two cases targeting local officials and nonprofits for supporting immigrants in alleged violation of state law.
